Green Stoneware Vase Associated W/ Craftsman Workshops

$2,500.00

This rare green stoneware vase was originally produced as a lamp base, though the form was also offered as a standalone vase. During production, the factory drilled an opening near the base prior to glazing — a detail consistent with other examples known to have been adapted for lighting.

Standing 6 7/8″ tall and covered in a rich green glaze, this piece shows strong evidence of being largely hand made, as seen in the subtle variations of the finish and glaze application.

In more than forty years in the field, I have seen only a few of these examples. Its craftsmanship, surface quality, and association with the Craftsman Workshops make it a rare and desirable piece of early Arts and Crafts pottery.
