Early Gustav Stickley Sideboard
This early Gustav Stickley sideboard is marked with the 1902-1903 decal but could have been made in 1901. Displaying characteristics of his earliest pieces that we are familiar with along with a few that looks experimental to me. A large spline 2 3/4″ tall x 1 1/4″ wide has been positioned in the top edge of each side stabilizing the movement that the environment sometimes causes in wood. This is in very good structural condition. Another unique feature is the hand wrought iron hardware produced prior to Stickley opening up his metal shop. The origin of this hardware is unknown but could have been purchased on one of Mr. Stickley’s trips to England. Measures 39 3/4″ x 53″ x 23″. Please call us to discuss.
