Turkish carpets were carefully examined for their weaving techniques and decorative designs, which became a major source of inspiration for the Donegal carpets produced during the Arts and Crafts movement in Ireland. With its simple design, this carpet was an ideal subject for examining traditional weaving techniques. This carpet Dates from the very end of the 19th century to the early 20th century.
This example was found in a large home on an island in the St. Lawrence River and it measures 14′ x 17′. It has been expertly restored.
