Roycroft Magazine Pedestal #80 SOLD

Roycroft Magazine Pedestal #080 in very nice condition with original, dark finish.

It was written that the way the Roycroft Furniture Shop achieved their deep dark red brown color was by keeping a barrel of water outside the door of the metal shop. They would deposit all the scraps and cut offs of the day into the barrel of water. Over time this water would become stained with the copper, brass and iron that had been put in the barrel. They would wipe the furniture with this mixture until the desired color was achieved on the wood. After drying completely the wood was finished with a paste wax.

Quarter sawn American White Oak and measures 64″ tall and 18″ square at the base.
