Roycroft Andirons (Pineapple Top)
Rare Roycroft Shops andirons incorporating the Roycroft signature in their design. Produced in East Aurora, NY circa 1900. Possibly hand wrought by Jerome Connor or Peter Robarge, both were experienced metal craftsman. Before joining the Roycrofters in 1896, Connor had been a foundry worker and Robarge was a local East Aurora blacksmith. I particulary like the incorporation of the company logo in the design.
For the most part the use of wrought iron fell by the wayside when the copper shop opened in 1902.
These andirons stand 31″ tall x 27 1/2″ deep x 12 1/2″ wide. A portion of the ends protruding into the fireplace have been replaced because of heat loss.
