Roycroft Metal Shop “Bellflower” Vase — c. 1915–1925

This elegant Roycroft copper vase, often referred to as the “Bellflower” vase due to its gently flared and lobed profile, stands approximately 10 inches tall. It is a classic example of the hand-hammered craftsmanship produced by the Roycroft Metal Shop in East Aurora, New York during the height of the American Arts and Crafts movement.

The vase features a beautifully proportioned form with subtle vertical lobes that taper into a flared rim, giving the piece a floral, organic silhouette reminiscent of a hanging bellflower. This example retains a very good Aurora Brown finish and original lacquer, which highlights the textured surface and rich depth of the hand-applied patina.

Pieces like this were typically made in the late 1910s through the mid-1920s, and are often marked on the underside with the Roycroft orb-and-cross logo, denoting authenticity and workshop origin.
