Brouwer Pottery Squat Vase

Theophilus Brouwer  worked on Long Island in Westhampton, New York during the early 20th century. Brouwer was a noted sculptor, woodcarver, architect, oil painter and potter. He developed a technique of open firing creating his unique glazes and surfaces. This piece shows the torture of his technique. Excellent condition and stands 4 1/4″ tall x 7″ in diameter. ex Robert A. Ellison Jr. collection
